What an access request form is

Most buildings won’t let just anyone in to work. An access request form is how you tell the property manager who’s coming, when, and to do what — so they can authorize it with building security and the loading dock.

A typical form asks for:

  • The vendor or company name and an on-site contact
  • The dates and times (including after-hours, if needed)
  • What work they’re doing
  • A valid certificate of insurance (COI)

Why you care

No approved access form, no entry — even if your vendor is standing in the lobby ready to work. These forms often need to go in several business days ahead, and they usually depend on the COI being submitted first. So this is an early-week task, not a day-before one.

Submit access requests as soon as you have vendor dates, and track each one’s status alongside your COIs. Build access is a queue, and you want to be early in it.
