Why freight elevator scheduling is a critical-path item
One shared elevator, limited windows, everyone's deliveries competing for it. If it's not reserved, your move waits — so book it the moment you have dates.
Why freight elevator scheduling is a critical-path item
The freight elevator is the big elevator movers, furniture, and equipment use. In most buildings there’s only one, every tenant shares it, and it can only be reserved in specific time windows.
Why you care
“Critical path” means: if this slips, everything after it slips. The freight elevator is a textbook example. If it isn’t reserved for your delivery and move dates, it doesn’t matter that the furniture arrived on time or the movers showed up — they’ll wait, sometimes hours, sometimes a full day, while another tenant uses it.
That makes booking it one of the first things to do once you know your dates — not something to confirm the week of. Reserve it for both furniture delivery/install and the move itself, and double-check the elevator’s dimensions and weight limit against what you’re bringing in.
It’s on the property manager intake questions and the Move Day Run of Show for exactly this reason.
